Stephan Hristov, PhD Professor
Dr. Stefan Hristov is Professor at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria. He has been working in UNWE since 1974 after defending his PhD dissertation in Russia on the problems of forecasting. Stefan Hristov has been teaching strategic management, business management, operations management, project management, strategic marketing, industrial marketing and other subjects to the students in various bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. During the past few years he is an author of the following books: Strategic Management (2000), Strategic Management for Business (2003, 2006), Business Management (1998), Strategic Marketing for Business (2005), Strategic Marketing (1998, 2002), Strategic Marketing in the Organization (2001), etc. He has published more than 88 scientific articles and participated with 82 scientific papers in national and international conferences. His current scientific areas of interest are the contemporary methods for strategic decision making and the strategies applied in the collective system for security and defence.
 


Georgy Pavlov, PhD Associate Professor
Dr. Georgy Pavlov is Associate Professor at the University of National and World Economy, Sofia since 2002. He holds a M.Sc. degree in automatics and Ph.D. degree from The Technical University (TU) of Sofia. Associate-professor of Design & Development Information systems (1988) at the Military Research Development Institute of General Staff of Bulgarian Armed Forces, currently-Defense Advanced Research Institute, “G. S. Rakovski” National Defense College. During the period May 2001 – January 2002 he was Head of “Defense resource management” section in this Institute.
He is lecturing for bachelor and master degree students in UNWE as well as in the New Bulgarian University and National Defense College.
His main areas of interest are design of command and control systems, information systems, modeling and simulations.
In the SfP-982063 he is responsible for activities on research objective 3 – to develop a Network for Scientific Co-operation and Database.
Tsvetan Tsvetkov, PhD Associate Professor
Associate Professor Tsvetan Tsvetkov works for Department of National and Regional Security, University of National and World Economy, Sofia since 1992. His main scientific interests are in innovation and investment management, quantitative technique, project management and risk management.
Assoc. Prof. Tsvetkov took part in several national and international research projects on defence and security economy and management, innovation management etc. He delivers lectures for bachelor and master degree students in UNWE, as well as in the New Bulgarian University and International Business School – Botevgrad.
In the SfP-982063 he is responsible for activities on research objective 1 – to develop a NATO integrated R&D Concept and Model (R&DCM).
Dimitar Dimitrov, PhD Associate Professor
Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov is Associate Professor at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Sofia, Bulgaria, currently Director of Department ‘National and Regional Security’ (since 2007). He has been working at UNWE since 1988. His main scientific interests are in security and defense economics, defense industry restructuring, civil-military relations, defense economic analysis, defense and security policy. He coordinates Objective 2 of the Project.Dr. Dimitrov took part in several national and international research projects on defense and security economics and management in cooperation with SIPRI, Sweden, BICC, Bonn, Germany and CESS, Groningen, The Netherlands, University of Cairo, Egypt, EU COST A25 Action, etc. He is awarded with Ford Foundation Research Fellowship (2000- BICC,Bonn) and Volkswagen Foundation Research Fellowship (1997 – CESS, Groningen).
He is teaching bachelor and master degree courses at UNWE as well as at the New Bulgarian University – Sofia
Dobromir Malamov, PhD Associate Professor
Associate Professor Dobromir Malamov works as a main expert in Scientific Research Fund at the Ministry of Education and Science since 2008 and in Higher State School – College of Telecommunication and Posts since 2001. His main scientific interests are in the field of applying information technologies to different fields, management, fire prevention and security, organization of higher education, etc.
Assoc. Prof. D. Malamov took part as a counselor in the management of information and information components in several international projects in the field of social policy, which are financed by The World Bank and in national research projects in the field of fire prevention and security, optimization of the organization of higher education, etc.
Ventsislav Atanassov
Mr. Atanassov has M.Sc. degree in Economics of Security and Defence (2006) and M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and Defence command and control systems (1984). He specialised effective management in UK (2003) and communications and information systems for USAF (1997) in USA. He has been Deputy CIO of Bulgarian DoD (1999-2000). From 2004 to 2006 he worked as senior consultant for Unisys Ltd. (UK) in the UK. Currently he is project manager in OBS-Bulgaria. His scientific interests are in the areas of software design and development and their application for security and defence. He has about 20 scientific publications.
Georgy Penchev, Assistant Professor
Mr. Georgi Penchev is Assistant Professor since April 2005. He is working in DNRS since 2002 when he started his Ph.D. thesis on Defence Armament Acquisition System. His main areas of interest are defence procurement and acquisition, economics of public sector, management of defence, public tenders, innovations and investments, business process management.His responsibilities are related to Objective 3, as well as, to administrative support, hardware/software procurement and maintenance. He is also maintainer and Super Administrator to the Site, Gropware and Mailing List.
Konstantin Poudin, Assistant ProfessorAssist. Prof. Konstantin Poudin is a Ph.D. student at the Department “National and Regional Security”- UNWE. His thesis is dedicated to the social and economic aspects of the process of professionalization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces. Konstantin Poudin’s scientific interests are in the field of HR management in defence and security, management of defence and security, security policy . He is one of the young researchers working on Objective 1 and Objective 2. He took part in the elaboration of Defence R&D Management Concept and Model. He studied the Italian experience and the Bulgarian practice. At present, Konstantin Poudin is working on elaboration of Defence and Security R&D management policy framework.
Nikolay Stsavrev , Ph.D.student
Mr. Nikolay Stavrev was born in 1977 in the town of Sofia. He is PhD student in University of National and World Economy, Department „National and regional security” science 2005. His main areas of interests are in spheres of crisis management, defense industrial transformation and defense planning. Mr. Stavrev takes part in several projects, related with the problems of defense and security.
Tanya Stoycheva Stoeva
Tanya Stoycheva Stoeva is a last year student at the Department “National and Regional Security” – UNWE, assisting Associate Professor Tsvetan Tsvetkov in Objective 1 of the SfP 982063 Project. She participated in elaboration of a questionnaire about other countries’ experience in the area of Management of Security Related R&D in Support of Defence Industrial Transformation. She also took part in “brainstorming” for developing of drafts of NATO integrated R&D Concept and Model.
Galina Champarova
Galina Champarova is a last year student at the Department “National and Regional Security” – UNWE. In the SfP-982063 she participated in Objective 1 by searching, analyzing and translating information regarding structures in NATO, responsible for the R&D and “NATO Science Programme”; writing a report about the financing mechanism of R&D projects in NATO countries. She also joined in translating the Objective 1 Final activities report of the Bulgarian team and took part in “brainstorming” for developing of drafts of NATO integrated R&D Concept and Model. Her main area of interest is the transparency and the accountability of defence procurement and acquisition process.
Radina Haralambova Kyoseva
Radina Haralambova Kyoseva is a last-year student at the Department “National and Regional Security”, UNWE (2003-2007). She was one of the young researchers working on Objective 1 “NATO integrated R&D Concept and Model development”.
She took part in:

  • Investigation, translation and analysis on the information on the project;
  • Research, analysis and generalization on the information on: NAMSA Procurement Regulations; Opportunities for business-cooperation with NATO; NATO Handbook; NATO CALS Handbook; NATO Review.
  • Resolution of the placed of the Work Distribution Plan exploratory tasks.
Iveta Dimitrova
Iveta Radeva Dimitrova is a student at the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria, Department of National and Regional Security. Her work on the project is connected with:

  • Objective 1: working on the Concept and Model for Management of R&D in Support of Defence Industrial Transformation;
  • Objective 2: working on the R&D policy in Bulgaria
  • Translating and research work.
Ivaylo Mihaylov
Mr. Ivaylo Mihaylov is a student since September 2004 in “National and regional security” department. He is working in DNRS since 2007. His main areas of interest are economics of defence, economics of public sector, management of defence, business process management.
Nayden Ganchev
Mr. Nayden Ganchev is a student since September 2004 in “National and regional security” department. He is working in DNRS since 2007. His main areas of interest are: european development, international business, economics of defence, economics of public sector, management of defence, business process management.
Lyubomir Atanasov
Mr. Lyubomir Atanasov was born in Stara Zagora in 1986. He is a student since September 2005 in “National and regional security” department. He is working in DNRS since 2008. He took part in Students` conference held within the framework of the project. His work on the project is connected with analysis, administrative and research work. His main areas of interest are: management of defense, economics of public sector, Defense and Security economics.
Gyurgitsa Kostadinova
Ms. Gyurgitsa Nikolaeva Kostadinova is in her last year of education in the University of National and World Economy.Her major interest is Defence economics.In SfP-982063 project she participates to research on Object 1 and 2 and in translating materials.She took part in Students` conference held within the framework of the project.Her main fields of interest are defence management, innovation processes and economics of public sector.
Stoyko Petrov
Mr. Stoyko Petrov is a last-year student at the Department of National and Regional Security, University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria. His main areas of interests are related to the problems of Security and Defense Economics and Management. In the NATO project SfP-982063 Mr. Petrov is working on Objective 2 – elaboration of Security and Defence R&D management policy framework.
Dilyana Lalova
Ms. Dilyana Lalova is a third year student at the Department “National and Regional Security”, UNWE, Sofia.Her work on the project is connected to research and transaltion of materials for Project Database.
Her main interests concern the management of defense, NATO diplomacy and the international business.
Hristo Hristov
Mr. Hristo Krasenov Hristov is a third year student at the Department “National and Regional Security”-UNWE. He is involved in project researches and translation. Hristo’s main area of interests are business process management, investigation and trade.
